What is the Gourmandise Bistro?

A good, traditional lunch.

Gourmandise is a french word meaning "a taste or relish for good food." The Gourmandise Bistro is simply the best way to bring this good food right to you, with a little bit more, en plus.

Brian Owen started the Gourmandise Bistro service after living two years in southern France on the Mediterranean and near the Italian border learning about gourmet food from those who know it best: The French.

Brian in France . . . Eating

After months of cooking gourmet meals for friends and family, Brian decided to share his love of food with others. But why offer simple food only? As a professional stand-up comedian, Brian was in high demand. Why not combine the two and offer dinner and entertainment. With this idea in tow, he created the idea of interactive soirees with those for whom he's cooking. A little food, a little entertainment and a little learning about french cooking adding up to a unique and entertaining night no one will forget!

Le Menu: Gavez-vous!

The epitome of provincial France

The Gourmandise Bistro offers the finest meals in French/Italian and French fusion cuisine.

Prices vary depending on the size of the meal and the ingredients desired. Prices decided upon request, but are not priced much higher than the base cost for ingredients. All meals can be offered as an evening or afternoon where gourmet French cooking can be taught in an interactive and comedic environment.

Entrees:

Daube Provencale - A traditional meal from the southern region of Provence, a daube provencale is a rich meal consisting of a slow-roasted beef roast in a red wine sauce with traditional herbes de provence and the french "Holy Trinity" of cooking: Onions, carrots and celery and served over egg noodles (hand-made pasta by request). A delicious meal perfect for a large family.

Boeuf Bourguignon - A classic french staple, boeuf bourguignon is perfect in its simplicity and bold flavor. A french dish akin to beef stew with beef, potatoes, carrots and onions cooked slowly together in their own juices create a perfect meal for a cold day.

Cote de Porc - An original recipe taught to Brian from a Belgian chef and housekeeper, this pork roast slowly cooked in a creamy mushroom sauce is the richest dish he has to offer. Its delicious flavors seep into every inch of the meat creating a truly memorable dining experience.

Pastas and Pizza:

Brian offers a variety of pasta dishes. He makes his pasta by hand, and sauces are original recipes made from scratch. Pasta dishes offered:

Lasagne - Traditional lasagna made from fresh hand-made pasta layered with Brian's hand-made meatballs, fresh ricotta, mozzarella and a prosciutto-mushroom marinara.

Lasagne aux Aubergines - Lasagna substituting pasta for thinly sliced and flash-fried eggplant. Layered with mozzarella and Brian's homemade "gravy:" marinara sauce. Can be made with a vegetarian marinara for a delicious and rich vegetarian dish.

Poulet a l'Italien - Chicken baked with mozzarella in Brian's homemade gravy. Can be baked with or without hand-made pasta.

Sunday's Lunch - Hand-made spaghetti with Brian's original gravy and home-made meatballs.

Cajun Baked Ziti - Ziti baked with ricotta and Brian's original sweet cajun chicken and sausage with caramelized peppers and onions. A delicious and unique dish only available from Gourmandise Bistro!

Sweet Cajun Chicken and Sausage Pizza - Brian's favorite pizza to make and to eat! An explosion of flavors result from Brian's original sweet cajun chicken and sausage with caramelized peppers and onions on top of a fresh crust, fresh tomatoes, basil and topped with mozzarella. Order two in order to satisfy everybody!

Margherita - A traditional margherita pizza with fresh tomatoes, basil and the finest olive oil on top of a freshly baked crust. A great vegetarian dish!

Sides and Salads:

Ratatouille - This delicious vegetarian dish is a slow-cooked vegetable combination of zucchini, eggplant, onions, peppers and tomatoes that will satisfy anyone looking for a hearty meal or a light side dish.

Spaetzle a l'Alsacien - Spaetzle is in fact a german dish, but this is prepared in the manner of the French region of Alsace. A german dumpling is cooked in 4 different cheeses and topped with caramelized onions and baked. The rich and savory dish is then served with applesauce, pairing the savory with the sweet perfectly. Spaetzle a l'Alsacien is fantastic paired with the Cote de Porc or Daube Provencale.

Salades aux Concombres - A deliciously simple and light salad of peppers and cucumbers lightly seasoned with oil, vinegar, salt and pepper. As delicious as Brian's heavier dishes can be, pairing them with this light salad creates a wonderful juxtaposition of flavor.

Desserts:

Crepes - Traditional French crepes are a perfect way to finish a meal. The thin pancake-esque crepe is topped with your choice of sweet toppings and fruits creating a sinfully sweet yet light dessert.

Profiteroles - Small puff pastries filled with cream and topped with warm chocolate or home-made creme anglaise.

Chocolat Fondant - A rich chocolate cake which features a center of warm, gooey chocolate for the absolute chocoholic in all of us.

Fondue au Chocolat - Melted chocolate with your choice of fruits, sweet pound cake or bread to dip.
